Details

Work can only be accepted if it is listed on the Showcase registration which becomes the exhibition listing held at the sales desk.

Work needs to be suitable for display, for paintings and wall art that means 2 d-rings suitable for the hanging system and with string for the end customer.

For ceramics, glass or other standing art the work must be stable with protective feet if oiled or any finish that could come off on the display equipment.

All work should be delivered with a label which is visible when the art is displayed. The label should include the title, artist, selling price and venue number.

Exhibition labels will be generated to create a consistent feel for the exhibition. We’ll also ensure each artists work has their venue listing from the brochure posted by their work so visitors can easily identify where they can see more of any work they like.

As in previous years artwork delivered should be unwrapped and any protective materials (bubble wrap, etc) removed and brought back for the collection. We will supply wrapping materials for any artwork sold during the exhibition. Any specific requirements for wrapping should be identified in advance.

The Showcase exhibition has space for up to 5 to 7 artists in residence. Artists or makers who aren’t able to open their studios or whose studio is more remote to their local route can choose to exhibit at the Bield. The residents display areas are arranged in the front of the Barn Gallery.

The reason for the number of resident artists is to allow any of the residents to be able to have a day away from the event although we encourage artists to be there as often as they are able as it has been the case that it’s the personal connection that helps the sale of artists work.

We also ask that the resident artists staff the sales desk, in recent years we’ve also asked the artists exhibiting in the exhibition to assist with this and each provide a half day cover. We appreciate the second week when the open studios event is on is more difficult if you’re planning to have your studio open most of the nine days of the event. We recommend you volunteer as soon as possible to get the dates that best suit you.

Details

Introduced in 2023, the Summer Show is an opportunity for artists participating in the Open Studios to preview their work in a gallery style exhibition well before the event.

Work can only be accepted if it is listed on the Summer Show registration which becomes the exhibition listing held at the sales desk.

Work needs to be suitable for display, for paintings and wall art that means 2 d-rings suitable for the hanging system and with string for the end customer.

For ceramics, glass or other standing art the work must be stable with protective feet if oiled or any finish that could come off on the display materials.

We will supply wrapping materials for any artwork sold during the exhibition. Any specific requirements for wrapping should be identified in advance.

We also ask that the artists exhibiting in the exhibition assist with the sales desk and each provide a day’s cover, either as a single day or as half days. We recommend you volunteer as soon as possible to get the dates that best suit you.
